The Cozy Cart
The most recent project we’re supporting at Peace Arch Hospital is the Cozy Cart. The Cozy Cart provides freshly steeped tea and hot chocolate on select units made by specially trained volunteers. It sounds simple enough, but all the benefits provided to patients through this new initiative include:
Helping to maintain the cognitive and physical functions of patients throughout hospitalization.
Helping prevent dehydration, UTIs, and delirium.
Improving patient experience while hospitalized.
Providing encouragement and hope.
Allowing patients to be discharged from the hospital as independently as possible, and helps to prevent unplanned readmission.
It is our pleasure to support this program through the funding of startup costs, including three red, shiny, brand-new carts, colourful signage, and other supplies that will ensure this program’s goals are met throughout the first year of service. This Cozy Cart currently operates on the ACE unit with plans to expand to the Emergency Department and the Surgical Unit.
